film/photo fund!
hello.
i have a large photo project i am working on for next year and i am looking for film or money for film. the project requires about 16 rolls of 24 exposure 35mm color film (to get to 365 frames/exposures). it also calls for money to develop the film at the end of the year. i am going to ask my dad to borrow his canon ae-1 program for the year for the project. if that doesn’t work out then i need a camera i can use for the year. i am trying to use the same camera for the entire year. also the film i’d like it to be the same type if that is possible. kodak 400 iso/asa would be my preference. you can read more about the project: here.
so it would be wonderful if i could get any of these two things. if you are able to help me out please send things to:

kenna hall rm, 257
5000 n. willamette blvd.
portland, or 97203
or you can send anything you like (i.e. letters, photos, what have you). near the end of next year i will want more for this project like a website and/or a flickr pro account (a new account) to showcase the project itself. anything to help would be very much appreciated. merci beaucoup!

So in November (I am not sure of the date yet) I am starting a letter project. I have two small Moleskine Notebooks (from the 3 pack) and will start with one. How this will work is you will write a letter, taking all the pages you think you will need, and send it off to someone else. You can write the letter to that person, to someone else, or to/for anything else. It is up to you how you want to write and craft your letter.
If you would like to take part in this please FlickrMail me with your name and address or email that information to me at manualtree [at] yahoo.com.
*Also to those wanting to participate: would it better if it was sent in an order (like by closest to sender for less of a cost in sending) or random so we get someone from someplace else and it gets to travel back and forth all over?
**Another note: You can be from anywhere in the world to do this. I want it to go all over the place!

environmental justice plunge.
so these past few days have been filled with projects and learning for me and 10 others. during the first half of my fall break, monday until today, i was on an environmental justice plunge. we helped with the non-profit urban gleaners by delivering food places, visited gardens/farms, learned about csa’s (community support agriculture), helped out/learned about the oregon food bank, ate at proper eat’s market & cafe (the tempeh reuben i had was delicious), worked with growing gardens setting up to yards with the garden beds fro them to use in the spring, learned to shop on an $8 budget while still making healthy choices, and cooked food. it was wonderful, the food was healthy and mostly vegan (what i ate was. the granola we had for breakfast was delicious, with maple flavor and fruit, oh so good), and it was a lot of fun. i also got to the “green house” on our campus, a themed house in our university village. i am only recently getting back to everyone who has contacted me these last few days but i sitll have half of my fall break left which is good. it was a good way to spend some of my break and a great learning experience. i want a garden of my own now… well i will want one when i live in a house and not a dorm.

i know there have been different book projects and whatnot going around recently but i have an idea for one. i have two small moleskine notebooks, the ones from the three pack, and was thinking about starting a letter project. the idea would be to take a page (both sides work) and write a letter. it could be to the person you are sending it to or someone anonymous. you can just get your thoughts out or have set ideas for your letter. by the end there would be this small journal full of letters from all different places…
does this sound interesting at all? would anyone want to do it?
NOTE: having the authors/writers of the letters from all over the world is a wonderful thing!

i love the little things.
today i got a text from my father which made me smile. he had coffee at my favorite coffee shop, glazer’s coffee, back in hawaii and being there made him think of me. it was a nice feeling reading the text. it’s these little things that mean the most and make me smile.
